We have created this page to keep customers updated as a result of the ongoing situation with Wirecard, one of our key providers. This page was last updated at 10:50 on Tuesday 30th June 2020. Good news, you can use your Kroo card! We are pleased to announce that the FCA has lifted it’s restrictions on Wirecard and as a result, you can now add funds and make payments with your Kroo card just like before.

What happened?

Kroo uses the e-money license of Wirecard to provide you with your Kroo MasterCard debit card. Wirecard is wholly owned by Wirecard AG. Following the recent collapse of Wirecard AG, the German parent company of Wirecard, on Friday 26 June, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) decided to temporarily block all funds held by Wirecard - without prior notice - to protect the interests and money of its customers. Click here for more information. In the evening on Monday 29th June the FCA lifted the restriction on Wirecard, and as a result, all Kroo cards are working as usual.

What was the impact for me as a customer?

You were temporarily unable to add to or withdraw from your Kroo account or spend with your Kroo card.

Did this affect all Kroo customers?

Yes, this affected all Kroo customers, as well as all other Wirecard customers in the UK.

Is my money safe?

Yes. At Kroo, customers are the most important part of our business and for this reason, we therefore promised that: “Whatever happens, no Kroo customer will lose their money as a consequence of this current Wirecard situation.”
We appreciate that this may have been a difficult situation for you and we thank you for your patience and understanding.
